Mountain River Flower Patch is a small, family-run flower field set on our home property in the Huon Valley, Tasmania. With rows of seasonal flowers and a mountain backdrop, it’s a gentle, natural setting for engagement sessions, family photos, maternity shoots, branding content, or “just because” portraits.

We welcome photographers, content creators and camera-loving guests to book dedicated photography sessions so you can make the most of the light and the flowers without rushing.

Casual photos vs booked photoshoots

During public flower picking sessions, guests are welcome to take casual photos and short videos as they wander and pick. Phones and small cameras are fine, as long as you’re respectful of other visitors and stay off the flower beds.

For professional or commercial photography (paid shoots, client work, branding content, styled shoots, or any session where photography is the main purpose of your visit), we ask that you book a dedicated photography session or private picking session. This gives you more space, time and flexibility – and ensures we don’t overcrowd the patch.

What’s included in a photography session booking

• Use of the flower patch for your booked time
• Access to a variety of seasonal backdrops – think dahlias, sunflowers and lush green rows
• Space for your clients, family, or creative team to wander and relax
• Freedom to bring simple props, picnic rugs and blankets (no large structures or installations without prior approval)

Parts of the patch are pram and wheelchair friendly, though some areas are softer and sloped. There are toilets on-site and limited parking, so car-pooling is appreciated.

House rules

To keep the patch safe and beautiful for everyone, we ask that you:

• Stay on the paths and never stand in or on the flower beds
• Supervise children closely at all times
• Leave dogs at home
• Avoid smoking, vaping and alcohol
• Respect any signed “no access” areas (like the veggie garden, beehive and orchard)

How to book

Photography sessions are available within set times and by arrangement outside standard picking sessions. To chat about dates, light (sunrise/sunset), and pricing for your shoot, please get in touch via email with your preferred date, time window, and how many people you’re planning to bring.
